Case Study: IT Infrastructure Services
Challenge
A national provider of testing services was looking for a provider who could manage installation and service work of data networks across North America for their 400+ testing center locations. This included sites that were new construction, site relocations, and temporary sites. The costs for management of this aspect of their business were high and the service level from multiple providers was inconsistent. The customer turned to NextConnect Technologies Account Management and Program Management personnel for a solution.
Solution
Account and Program Management met with the customer and surveyed the facilities team internal work flow and procedures in delivery of the data networks. Each aspect of the data network delivery of the new, relocation, or temporary sites was analyzed and studied for improvement. This included research on other trades that might affect the workflow and project planning for the most efficient use of trades on site. The goal was to create a new process following the NextConnect proven Program Management methodology that would streamline and cut overall data network costs. A customized Project Plan and Scope of Work were created along with national per-unit installed pricing.
Result
Utilizing the new Project Plan, following a standard Scope of Work per site, and establishment of per-unit pricing has enabled the customer much better cost control for their network of testing centers. The installer and service network of over 3,000 experienced and certified local installation partners has consistently enhanced the service level of completed work. As part of the process created for the customer, a Program Team was assigned as single points of contact that handle every aspect of installation and service work. This experienced Program Team function is to coordinate with site contacts, schedules installation and service work, orders any material required, handles inquiries and questions with technicians on the ground, and is the liaison with the customer’s Corporate office. Since beginning work for the customer over ten years ago and because of the efficiency and competent work of our Program Team and local Affiliate network, the range of services has expanded beyond the data network to include voice network, demark extension, microphone, and surveillance camera installation. Work for this customer has been completed in all 50 US States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and all the provinces of Canada.
